Why use a VPN
Your connection reveals more than you think.
Every network you join and every site you visit can see details about you — like your IP address and approximate location. A VPN sends your traffic through an encrypted tunnel to keep it private.
Public Wi-Fi
Café, airport and hotel networks are shared with strangers. A VPN encrypts your connection so others on the network can't see what you're doing.
Tracking and profiling
Your internet provider can see which sites you visit, and your IP address follows you around the web. A VPN masks your IP and hides your browsing from your provider.
Travel
Away from home, your banking and streaming apps may not work as usual. Connect to a server back home and use them securely, wherever you are.
Features
Why the NordVPN service is our top pick
Fast, independently audited and simple enough for anyone. Here's what you get.
Built for speed
The NordLynx protocol, built on WireGuard®, is the default in NordVPN apps — designed for fast, stable connections for streaming, calls and gaming.
Post-quantum encryption
Available in all NordVPN apps since 2025 with the NordLynx protocol — designed to keep traffic captured today unreadable, even to future quantum computers.
Audited no-logs policy
Independently assessed six times. In the latest review, completed by Deloitte in December 2025, auditors concluded that NordVPN systems are built in line with its no-logs policy.
One plan, every device
Apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Android TV, Apple TV and major browsers. Protect up to 10 devices at the same time.
Specialty servers
Double VPN, Onion Over VPN, P2P and obfuscated servers, plus the NordWhisper protocol for networks that try to block VPN traffic.
More than a VPN
Depending on your plan: Threat Protection Pro™ against malicious sites and trackers, next-gen antivirus, Dark Web Monitor and more. Features vary by plan and region.
Also: Kill Switch · RAM-only servers · 24/7 live chat support · Dedicated IP (paid add-on)

Why not just use a free VPN?

FAQ
Questions, answered
Is it legal to use a VPN?
In most countries, yes. A few countries restrict or ban VPNs, and anything illegal offline is still illegal with a VPN. Check the rules where you live or travel.
Will a VPN slow down my internet?
Encryption adds a little overhead, but the NordLynx protocol is designed for speed. Connecting to a server near you keeps any slowdown small.
Does the NordVPN service keep logs?
Its no-logs policy has been independently assessed six times. In the latest assessment, completed by Deloitte in December 2025, the auditors concluded that NordVPN systems are designed and implemented in line with that policy.
What if I change my mind?
Request a full refund within 30 days of your first purchase made directly with NordVPN. The guarantee doesn't cover renewals, so switch off auto-renewal if you don't plan to continue.
Which plan should I choose?
The entry plan includes the full VPN. Higher tiers add extras such as a password manager, encrypted cloud storage or identity protection — plan names and contents vary by country. Longer plans have the lowest monthly price.
Can I watch my usual shows while traveling?
Usually, yes. Connect to a server in your home country to reach the streaming services you already pay for. Results can vary by service, and each service has its own terms of use.
Do you get paid if I buy?
Yes. If you buy through our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It doesn't change the price you pay.
